How to use the template

  1. Download the file as Excel or CSV.
  2. Enter one product per row. Leave columns you do not know empty.
  3. Import the file in the platform under Products, "CSV/Excel import". The dry run shows error rows with row numbers before anything is saved.
  4. Review and publish the passports.

A file may have at most 500 rows and 5 MB. Which legal requirements apply to your product group is explained in Digital Product Passport: obligation and timeline. The template is a technical aid and no assurance that a future legal act is met.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to download?

No. You download the template with the buttons on this page without registering.

Do I have to fill in all columns?

No. Empty cells are skipped and change nothing. Only the name of new products is required. For the passport itself, some schema fields are marked as required.

Excel or CSV, which is better?

The Excel file also has a Notes sheet describing every column. The CSV file uses a semicolon and UTF-8 and opens directly in German Excel.
